The last Cathedral restoration was completed in mid 1990s.  This restoration completed the most urgent work but left other much needed work undone.  Since then continued deterioration has been identified and hence a significant restoration is now required.

The first step in this process was the production of a scoping document to identify the scope of the work required and to develop a conservation strategy. With the support of the Adelaide City Council, St Peter’s Cathedral Council commissioned McDougall and Vines, Conservation and Heritage Consultants,  to produce the detailed  Conservation Strategy Report.

As a result of this report, the Cathedral Vestry in March 2014, resolved that this project should be completed for celebration of the Cathedral’s 150 year in 2019
