New Dean announced

The Dean of St Peter’s Cathedral will be the Very Reverend Frank Nelson.

He comes to us fromSt Paul’s Cathedral, Wellington, New Zealand where for the past eight years he has been Dean of that Cathedral. Frank Nelson has considerable experience of Anglican Cathedrals having served as a Curate in one, a Canon in another, as a Cathedral Sub-Dean, and as a University Chaplain in another before most recently being the Dean of Wellington. Along the way he has also served as Rector or Vicar in three parish churches. We are confident that Frank Nelson brings real ministry strengths as priest, pastor, preacher, initiator of Christian mission and enhancer of clergy and lay teamwork in the exciting ministries that Cathedrals increasingly have. Frank has special interests in Liturgy and Music including our choral and other music traditions here.

The Very Reverend Frank Nelson is 57 years old and energetic about coming to Adelaide. His wife is Christine Nelson and they have three adult children. Frank was born and ordained in South Africa. He opposed the apartheid system there which thankfully has now been demolished. Frank and Christine immigrated to New Zealand 21 years ago with their then three small children. They now will be immigrating to Australia. Frank Nelson’s appointment will begin here after the normal transition time which looks like starting about September this year.
