Confirmation

Confirmation is an adult rite whereby those who have been baptised as infants or young children affirm and renew their baptism vows in public. In the course of this service baptism promises are renewed, and the candidate receives the strengthening of the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of the bishop’s hands. Candidates will have a sponsor (often a God-parent) from the congregation. Confirmation (Sometimes linked with baptism) happens after a suitable period of instruction and preparation, which includes reflecting on the normal Sunday services.

Young people of high school age who are already baptised and part of the worshipping congregation are encouraged to be confirmed. Appropriate preparation is offered from time to time.
