St Peter’s Cathedral is closed until further notice to visitors, in response to the current outbreak of Covid-19 in South Australia. In time we hope to resume our usual pattern of opening:

Mondays, 11:00am – 1:00pm
Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00am – 3:00pm

Please note that opening hours are subject to volunteer availability, weddings, funerals, and other special services.

Update May 2021: Looking for a tour of the Cathedral for a community group or school? Our experienced and knowledgeable Tour Guides are happy to offer tours tailored to your needs. Please call the Cathedral Office on 8267 4551 to book a tour.

From Wednesday 2 June 2021, 11.00am weekly public Cathedral tours will resume on Wednesdays. Sunday public tours are still on hold for the moment.

* Free guided tours of the Cathedral are offered every Wednesday at 11:00am.
Bookings by individuals for these tours are not required (More information about Group Tour Bookings below).

* Subject to services, other events and availability of volunteers. 

The Cathedral is staffed by volunteer welcomers during opening hours, and there are information booklets available at the back of the Cathedral in various languages to allow visitors to take a self guided tour.

The Cathedral Shop is located adjacent to the main entrance.  Available for purchase is a range of merchandise including bibles, holding crosses, postcards, candles, recordings of the Cathedral Choir and other souvenirs by which you can remember your visit.

Food & Drink

The Cathedral Deli and The Cathedral Hotel are within a minutes (1) walk from St Peter’s Cathedral and both are a perfect place to enjoy meal or refreshments following your visit.

Tours (Individuals & Groups)

Experienced and knowledgeable tour guides conduct informative and educational tours focusing on the history and religious symbolism of the building and discussing the numerous beautiful artworks in the Cathedral.

Free guided tours of the Cathedral are offered every Wednesday at 11.00am.  Bookings by individuals for these tours are not required.

We welcome school, church and community groups and are happy to tailor a tour to suit your needs. Commercial operators wishing to bring tourists through the Cathedral should book a tour (45 minutes) or a visit (10 minutes) through the Cathedral Office. Tours and visits must be booked at least two weeks prior to the planned tour.

  • Community Groups: Suggested donation of $5.00 a head paid to the Cathedral Office
  • Schools: No charge
  • Commercial Tours: $5.00 a head, paid in advance on invoice
  • Bus Tour Groups – 10 minute visit, but no formal tour: Suggested gold coin donation


Visitors are welcome to take photos inside the Cathedral, but sensitivity to the sacred nature of the Cathedral is asked for.
Visitors are not permitted to take photographs of choir rehearsals without specific permission.

Wedding photos for couples not married in the Cathedral can only be taken on the forecourt or steps of the Cathedral.  For commercial photography permission must be gained from the Dean.  Please contact the Cathedral Office.


All visitors are welcome to our Regular Services and Special Services throughout the year.
