The Very Reverend Frank Nelson

Frank Nelson commenced as Dean of Adelaide's iconic St Peter's Cathedral in October 2012.

South African born, Frank was ordained priest in 1979 and has worked as a priest in South Africa, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Prior to moving to Australia, Frank was Dean of Wellington Cathedral, New Zealand. He has always had a passion for cathedrals and the unique opportunities they offer. He is particularly interested in good liturgy and music, coupled with rigorous searching for ways to make faith relevant today while maintaining links with the past. He sees a cathedral reaching out to a wide variety of people in different ways.

In 2010 Frank completed a Master of Ministry degree with a thesis entitled "Benedict, Balance and the Deans", an examination and reflection on Benedictine Spirituality as a tool for a dean of a cathedral.

Frank is married to Christine, a registered secondary school teach of English, Drama and Biblical Studies. They have three adult children. Christine enjoys writing stories for children and young adults, and recently published a book of children's stories set in Wellington Cathedral.
